Available Trunks

These traveling trunks are available to be checked out by teachers, parents, and caregivers. Your use of a Historic Waco traveling trunk will provide you with lesson plans, classroom activities, PowerPoints, books, games, photos, and historical artifacts that will bring learning to life, wherever you are! 

Our trunks vary in topics and grade levels, so there is sure to be a trunk for everyone. All of the content in the trunks is TEKS aligned, to give you peace of mind.

Back in Time

This trunk gives students the chance to learn what life was like in early Waco! From settling in Waco as a pioneer, to life in the home, cooking, cleaning, doing chores, and learning, this box will transport you back to the 19th century.

My Community: Waco

We are all members of a community! But, what does that mean? In this traveling trunk, students will learn about what makes a community a community, and the history of our Waco community.

Cotton, cattle, and railroads are industries that were crucial in making Waco what it would become. This box explores the history of these industries in Waco and how their success helped shape Waco.

When you go somewhere, how do you travel? Well back when the pioneers came to settle in Waco, their methods of transportations were very different. This box will teach your more about where people migrated to Texas from and how they got here.

Have you ever gotten sick? What did you do? Well in the 19th and 20th century, medicine and health care looked very different than it does today. This box will give learners the chance to experience what early medicine would have looked like, and how our ideas have changed over time.

How much does it cost?

There is no rental fee to check out one of our traveling trunks!

How do I reserve a trunk? 

You can call our office at (254) 753-5166 to schedule your trunk reservation.

How long can I keep the trunk?

Your reservation of the trunk is good for one week. Trunks can be picked up on Fridays and must be returned the following Friday.
