Would you like to know more about HWF's Belles and Beaus teen program? Make plans to attend an informational meeting at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27, at Hoffman House, 810 S. 4th Street. Belles and Beaus offers students in grades 8-12 an opportunity to earn volunteer hours while learning more about Waco's fascinating history.

Professor Bob Darden to Discuss Black Gospel Music
During HWF Fall Lecture Aug. 24 

Baylor Professor Bob Darden will share his expertise on the fascinating topic of “Music That Matters: The Enduring Power of Freedom Songs,” at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 24 at the Lee Lockwood Library. The free lecture is hosted by the Historic Waco Foundation. Darden is renowned throughout the U.S. for his work on the Black Gospel Music Restoration Project. A digital collection of the genre, which can be found at Baylor’s Moody Library, was part of the Smithsonian’s African American History and Culture museum.
