Professional Registered Archaeologist, Katherine Turner-Pearson will focus on the archaeological excavations at the Stone Site, a contract-period Waco Indian village just north of Waco, Texas often times referred to as, "El Quiscat's Village. Turner-Pearson will explore and give us an inside view on how this site gives archaeologists a rare chance to study the impact of European contact over a short period of time frame and the life styles of an aboriginal group that is somewhat obscure. Our speaker, Katherine Turner-Pearson has her Master's degree in Anthropology, and Myth and Ritual. Over the years her knowledge in the field has expanded in areas such as prehistoric and historic archaeology, geoarchaeology, geomorphology, soil chemistry, survey, rock shelters, and site assessment. She has worked in all parts of both Texas and Oklahoma and as led many large-scale archaeological surveys and excavations.
