Waco History Project

Lavonia Jenkins "Bobbie" Barnes studied the decorative arts all of her adult life. She had a vision to save Waco's historic homes thus promoting the city's history.

In search of a way to train Historic Waco Foundation's docents, the first Barnes Course was established in 1967, disseminating information to enhance the docents' knowledge and skills.

In this the 43rd year of the course, we celebrate Bobbie Barnes and continue the work of preservation and education that she began so long ago.

The cost for the course is $125.00 for non HWF members (includes 1-year membership)
or $90.00 for members.
